As Angela Anthony Mias approaches retirement, colleagues and partners have taken a moment to reflect on the impact she has made during her time at the South African Broadband Education Network (SABEN). Since joining the organisation in 2018, Angela has played a meaningful role in shaping projects, strengthening institutional relationships, and advocating for education as a public good.

At the heart of her work has always been a commitment to community and service. Whether engaging with colleges, supporting teams, or contributing to long-term strategy, Angela’s approach has been grounded in empowerment, capacity building, and ethical participation in education systems. Her influence has extended beyond programmes and initiatives — leaving a lasting impression on the people she worked alongside.

SABEN’s leadership has acknowledged her contribution as the organisation enters a new phase of growth. Many of the priorities now coming into focus reflect issues Angela championed throughout her tenure, particularly around equitable access, institutional support, and sustainable development within the post-school education sector.

As this chapter draws to a close, it is marked not only by farewell, but by gratitude. Angela’s time at SABEN reflects a career defined by service, purpose, and a belief in education’s power to connect and uplift.
